spargelDuring visits to Germany and Belgum I detected a marked preference, when in season, for White Asparagus  (German:Spargel).

Though green was available in the supermarkets and shops The White seemed to be the choice for preparation in many of the resturants and I assume for preparation at home too.

There is an interesting Belgian dish called 'Asperges de Malines à la flamande'. I will be posting the recipe for this typical Belgain dish in the near futue.
